Carl Hansen KK37581 large armchair red
The KK87581 Large Red Armchair, designed by Kaare Klint in 1930, followed the recognition of the Red Chair Series that was showcased at the Danish Museum of Art and Design and the Danish Pavilion at the Barcelona International Exposition in 1929.
Klint created the contemporary pieces for the Red Chair series based on classic design principles and techniques, such as the traditional forms of English chair designs, including the Chippendale. Klint felt that it was essential to look to historic archetypes to create truly purposeful yet modern design.
Part of Klint’s core philosophy was to always include variety and functionalism in his design so, as well as the KK87581 Large Red Armchair he also created a Large Red Chair without armrests, as well as a Small Red Chair and Medium Red Chair to fit a variety of different tables.
