During the 1940s, Jean Prouvé designed the wall lamp Potence for his own home in Nancy.
A simple lamp nounted on a long, roating metal rod suppported by a steel wire.
In 1947 Jean Prouvé developed a conical lampshade to match with the different versions and sizes of the Potence. Jour Conique is the first lampshade he designed for the Potence.
