Thonet S64
Cantilever chair S 64 is one of the most versatile tubular steel furniture. The chair does well in different types of interior and fits both in a sleek modern interior and in an interior mix of different eras and style directions. Cantilever chair S 32 and variant S 64 with armrests are the best known tubular steel classics. It is especially the fascinating combination of old and new that makes the chair so popular: the traditional Thonet style of bending wood with the characteristic Viennese braid contrasts beautifully with the revolutionary material steel tube. The solid wood seat and back with woven wicker embody tradition, while the frame represents the present and the future. It is this versatility that makes the S 32 and S 64 the best-selling cantilever chairs of all time. Marcel Breuer designed the chairs in 1928 in his Berlin days. Thonet has been producing the chairs since 1930. Thanks to their clear and minimalist interplay of lines and the wickerwork, these two classics are ideal chairs for meeting rooms, waiting rooms, restaurants and living rooms.
